What is state accreditation?

The main purpose of state accreditation is to certify to educational institutions, students, their parents, employers, and the wider public that the quality of professional education is officially recognized by the state. In Armenia, external quality assurance in education is carried out through state accreditation. The accreditation process in the Republic of Armenia is enforced by the state-authorized foundation, the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance.

Why is accreditation important?

It guarantees that the higher education institution provides:

Accreditation is granted for a specific period, certifying that the educational institution or its academic programs have the necessary capacity to provide guaranteed-quality education during that time. Accreditation implies that the institution maintains standards enabling graduates to obtain the required professional qualifications for career advancement or for continuing their education at other institutions. Northern University has been accredited four times, in 2001, 2015, 2018, and 2022, providing exclusively state-recognized diplomas to all its graduates throughout these years. The accreditation granted to Northern University is evidence that the university and its academic programs possess the necessary capacity to deliver guaranteed-quality education during the specified period. Accreditation also implies that the institution maintains standards that enable graduates to obtain the qualifications necessary for professional advancement.
