State-Funded (Tuition-Free) System

By decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia (the decision for the 2025/2026 academic year will be attached upon publication), the University is allocated tuition-free places financed by the state in the form of full tuition compensation (hereinafter referred to as “state-funded places”) according to specializations. Applicants who indicate Northern University and the relevant specialization in the tuition-free system as their first preference may compete for these state-funded places. The same applicants may apply as their second preference to the paid system at Northern University, thereby obtaining the opportunity to participate in the University’s internal competition for tuition-free places.

Internal Tuition-Free System

The University provides tuition-free education (in the form of full tuition compensation through student benefits) in all faculties on a competitive basis, up to 10% of the total admission places. This status may be maintained throughout the entire period of study if the student meets the established GPA requirements.

The University also operates a system of named and special scholarships, as well as social and academic merit-based tuition discounts.

Military Service Deferment

Full-time students may receive a deferment from compulsory military service by signing a civil-law contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia during their studies. Under this contract, the student undergoes military training while studying and, after graduation, performs military service at a location and under conditions specified by the Ministry of Defense. The deferment is granted until the date of graduation, but not later than the student’s 26th birthday.
