Postgraduate degree
Postgraduate professional education at Northern University is conducted in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education,” the regulations established by the Government of the Republic of Armenia on admission to and education in postgraduate (aspirantura) and doctoral programs, and the internal regulations approved by Northern University.

Eligible applicants are graduates with a diploma of a certified specialist or a Master’s degree from state higher education institutions or non-state institutions accredited by specialization (institutionally accredited).
Study Load
- Full-time study in the postgraduate program corresponds to 180 ECTS credits, divided into two interconnected parts: educational and research.
- Admission to the professional exam requires approval from the University Admissions Committee, based on the applicant’s certificate or transcript in Foreign Language and Informatics & ICT Foundations, as well as a positive written review of the scientific abstract relevant to the chosen specialization or a verified list of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Required Minimum Scores
Foreign Language (one of the following):
- English – TOEFL iBT: 46 / IELTS: 5.5
- French – TCF: 200
- German – TestDaF: 60
Applicants whose professional subjects were taught in English, French, or German must take the exam in another foreign language.
Informatics & ICT Foundations: Minimum score – 25 points
Professional Exam:
- Evaluated on a 20-point scale.
- Passing score: at least 13 points.
- Exam questions, covering previous program materials, are posted at least one month before the professionalexam on the University notice board and/or official website.
Historical Notes
- In 2015, the RA Higher Qualification Committee included Northern University in the list of institutions approving dissertation topics in Economics, specialization Finance and Accounting.
- Since January 2017, Northern University is authorized to organize the admission committee for the professional exam in the same specialization.
Required Documents for Applicants
- Application addressed to the Rector of Northern University.
- Copies of Bachelor’s and Master’s (or Diploma of Certified Specialist) degrees and supplements. For foreign graduates, a document confirming equivalence of education.
- Certificate or transcript for Foreign Language and Informatics & ICT Foundations courses (with the required minimum scores).
- At least one published scientific work or a scientific abstract of at least 20 printed pages in the chosen specialization.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) and three photographs (3×4 cm).
- Employment record (extract from work book, if available).
