Dear students, know your rights and remember: all student rights and responsibilities lead to one goal, a high-quality, knowledge-based education.
Student Rights
Students have the right to:
- Choose their field of study, form of education, and engage in research; as well as pause or continue higher and postgraduate education at any stage.
- Receive education that meets modern labor market demands.
- Attend lectures organized by the university.
- Participate in processes that ensure the quality of education and evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching staff.
- Combine their main program with a second (parallel) specialization and earn an additional qualification.
- Use university libraries, information resources, academic and research departments, laboratories, forensic labs, language labs, computer classrooms, and legal clinic services.
- Use the assembly hall, sports facilities, and other social, healthcare, and university services according to established procedures.
- Participate in university governance in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Armenia and internal regulations.
- Join student councils, student scientific societies, and other student organizations.
- Take part in research programs, conferences, and seminars based on their interests.
- Appeal decisions and orders made by the university administration, following established procedures.
- Access internal regulations and academic documents governing university operations.
- Benefit from student privileges such as tuition discounts, partial reimbursements, scholarships, and more.
- Transfer to another educational institution, including universities abroad, and participate in international exchange programs.
About the Student Council
The Student Council is the main student self-governing and representative body. Through its active work, your student life can become more engaging, dynamic, and fulfilling. The Student Council of Northern University is a non-political, independent body that represents students. Its mission is to protect student rights and interests, ensure student participation in university governance, and support students’ academic, scientific, creative, physical, moral, and personal development, while also organizing student leisure and activities.
Main Goals of the Student Council
- Protect students’ rights and legitimate interests.
- Present student-related issues to the university’s governing bodies.
- Ensure student participation in university management.
- Raise awareness about student rights and responsibilities and promote active civic engagement.
- Contribute to improving the quality and effectiveness of education.
- Involve students in various social initiatives.
- Unite student organizations, clubs, and associations to create a supportive and enriching environment.
- Support students’ social well-being and organize leisure activities.
- Help maintain internal discipline within the university.
- Contribute to a positive educational and developmental environment.
