Online courses have been launched at Northern University for students and faculty members benefiting from the SIN-NEC program.

Launch of Two Online Courses within the “Sustainability and Internationalization capacities to promote modernization of Newcomers Higher Education in Neighbourhood East Countries /SIN-NEC/” Erasmus+ Capacity-Building Program
On March 16–17, 2026, two modern educational microcredential courses launched online as part of the “Sustainability and Internationalization capacities to promote modernization of newcomers’ higher education in Neighbourhood East Countries /SIN-NEC/” Erasmus+ Capacity-Building for Higher Education Programme. The program, which began in January 2025, runs for two years, with the University of Teramo in Italy serving as the consortium coordinator. Among member of the consortium. – The session was formally opened by the programme coordinator, Professor Paola Pitta, who delivered the opening speech.
Key activities in 2026 include developing virtual teaching capabilities. According to the work plan, consortium member universities from Armenia and Ukraine have developed micro-credential courses to be delivered to the ‘’SIN-NEC” program beneficiaries, students, and lecturers. Northern University has developed two online micro-credentials in collaboration with Eurasia International University.
The first course, titled “AI Tools for Teaching ESP (English for Specific Purposes) for Sustainability,” aims to promote the professional development of English language instructors in Armenian universities. It introduces participants to various AI tools that can be applied in teaching, learning, and assessment. English language instructors at Armenian universities will explore the potential of AI applications in teaching English for specific purposes, with particular emphasis on sustainable development principles, the ethical use of AI, and the alignment of education with current labor market needs. Participants will engage in discussions and practical exercises. This course aligns with contemporary trends in the digitalization of higher education and promotes the adoption of advanced pedagogical approaches.
The second micro-credential course is a two-month educational program titled “Media Literacy and Critical Digital Competence.” It aims to develop students’ media literacy, critical thinking, and responsible behavior in digital environments. Participants will study information ecosystems, mechanisms for evaluating sources, characteristics of misinformation and fake news dissemination, and the influence of algorithms on online content. Special attention is given to media ethics, digital responsibility, and the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. The course includes both theoretical lectures and practical workshops, enabling participants to apply their knowledge in real-life situations.
The courses represent the first joint teaching experience of “SIN-NEC” universities. The materials were developed and prepared by four lecturers from Northern University and Eurasia International University:

Upon completion of the programs, participants will receive certificates (3 ECTS).
– The courses have brought together lecturers and students from Armenian and international universities, fostering virtual academic exchange. English is used as the language of instruction, effectively supporting internationalization. at Armenian universities, fostering foreign-language proficiency and encouraging active participation in mobility programs for both faculty and students.
