Media Literacy and Critical Digital Competence for students

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Capacity-Building in Higher Education project “Sustainability and Internationalization Capacities to Promote the Modernization of Newcomers’ Higher Education in Neighbourhood East Countries (SIN-NEC)”, an online educational programme for students entitled “Media Literacy and Critical Digital Competence” has been launched.

The programme is implemented within the framework of WP4 and COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), contributing to the development of students’ digital, critical thinking, and intercultural competences.

The course aims to develop students’ media literacy, critical thinking, and responsible and safe behaviour in digital environments.

Participants have the opportunity to explore information ecosystems, mechanisms for evaluating sources, the characteristics of misinformation and fake news dissemination, as well as the influence of algorithms on the distribution and perception of information online.

Particular attention is given to media ethics, digital responsibility, and the opportunities and risks associated with Artificial Intelligence.

🌍 The COIL approach provides students from Armenian and international universities with an opportunity to collaborate in an online environment, participate in joint learning activities, exchange knowledge and experiences, and develop international and intercultural communication skills.

👩‍🏫 The course is delivered by:

✔️ Lusine Fljyan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Vice-Rector for Education, Research and Internationalization at Northern University;

✔️ Arusyak Ivanyan, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Head of the International Relations Department at Northern University;

✔️ Anna Mkrtichyan, PhD, Lecturer at the Department of Journalism, Eurasia International University.

🎓 Upon completion of the programme, participants will receive certificates equivalent to 3 ECTS credits. The course combines theoretical knowledge, practical workshops, and international online collaboration, contributing to the development of students’ contemporary digital, critical thinking, and intercultural competences.
